The Ugandan Government has signed a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Public Service Unions Including Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union to increase their Salaries. This came after Nurses and Midwives through their Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union threatened to strike starting 24th June 2018, over low salaries and allowances. The agreement will see Nurses and Midwives benefit from the salary enhancement starting in the financial year 2018/2019.
The International Nurses and Midwives day celebrations in Kitgum were generally very successful. President Museveni was welcomed by what he described as a special guard of honour mounted by over 100 beautiful nurses. 22 nurses including Ebola victims and survivors were recognized and awarded for their great contribution towards this nation
