The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union (UNMU) is proud to announce that its top leadership recently underwent an intensive leadership training facilitated by the esteemed Prof. Basheeka Benon. This transformative experience focused on enhancing leadership skills and fostering a strong sense of personal responsibility among the union’s leaders.

The training equipped our leaders with invaluable insights into the complexities of effective leadership. Prof. Basheeka emphasized the importance of vision, strategic thinking, and effective communication in driving organizational success. Our leaders were challenged to think critically about their roles and how they can inspire and motivate their colleagues to achieve the union’s goals.

A key component of the training centered on personal responsibility. Our leaders were reminded of the crucial role they play in shaping the future of the nursing and midwifery profession. They were encouraged to embrace accountability, integrity, and ethical conduct as fundamental principles of leadership.

Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, our leaders honed their skills in decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. They also explored strategies for building strong teams, fostering collaboration, and empowering members.

The training has undoubtedly elevated the leadership capacity of the UNMU. We are confident that our leaders are now better equipped to navigate the challenges facing the nursing and midwifery profession and to advocate for the rights and welfare of our members.

The UNMU is committed to continuous professional development and will continue to invest in the growth of its leadership. We believe that strong leadership is essential for achieving our vision of a thriving nursing and midwifery profession in Uganda.
