UNMU LEADERSHIP WITH HON. MINISTER OF PUBLIC SERVICE A COURTESY AND FAMILIARIZATION MEETING ON 15TH JULY 2026

The meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening collaboration between the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Union (UNMU) and the Ministry. It provided an opportunity for the UNMU leadership to formally introduce themselves to the Hon. Minister and to present the Union’s mandate, core functions, and ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting the nursing and midwifery professions in Uganda.

During the meeting, the Union highlighted its role in advocating for the rights, welfare, and professional development of nurses and midwives, while supporting the delivery of quality healthcare services across the country. Discussions also focused on key challenges affecting nurses and midwives in the public service, including issues related to working conditions, professional growth, motivation, and the overall wellbeing of the health workforce.

The engagement further explored areas of collaboration between UNMU and the Ministry to advance Government priorities in the health sector. Both parties reaffirmed the importance of working together to strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce, improve service delivery, and ensure that nurses and midwives are empowered to provide safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care to all Ugandans.
